Dr. Jonathan Kuttner - Treating a Trapezius Trigger Point
The upper portion decelerates the head, the middle portion decelerates protraction, and the lower portion decelerates shoulder elevation.
Remember that many people hold emotional tension in the upper trapezius.
Referred Pain - Trapezius Trigger Points
Trapezius trigger points typically lead to tension headaches, or pain felt along the side of the neck.
In some cases the client will present with pain at the back of the head, and possible a burning type pain experienced down into the vertebral side of the scapula and the middle back.
Many experts believe that trapezius trigger points can be associated with loss of balance and dizziness.
Trapezius trigger points are often mistaken for disc pathologies, neuralgia, spinal stenosis, shoulder bursitis, or arthritis.
